Cruise-in

You're invited to a weekly garthing of crazy car fans every Tuesday from 6-8pm in the parking lot of the First Citizens Bank in Troy. It's a great opportunity for car fans to bring out their "Baby" also for the car fan to come out and see some of the greatest vehicles of our past. There is no charge to show or to just stop and visit. If you want more information about showing call Jim Blackwell at 570-297-4441. See you Tuesday evening in Troy. (There will not be a show on July 27th due to the Troy Fair.) 

 

Dutch Oven Cooking at Mt. Pisgah

Have you ever smelled good food slowly cooking over an open fire?  Join Michelle Campbell, the Mt. Pisgah State Park Concessionaire & Conservation Volunteer on Tuesday, July 20th, from 5-8 p.m. at the Hilltop Pavilion as she creates tasty Dutch Oven dishes over an open fire.  Bring the family to discover some recipes sure to make your mouth water, and sample along the way!   For more information about programming or the park, contact the office at (570) 297-2734.

 

S.M.A.R.T. Angler Fishing Skills Clinic at Mt. Pisgah

Calling all children who want to learn or improve their fishing skills!  Please join Mt. Pisgah State Park Naturalist Nicole Harris, Thursday, July 22nd, from 9 a.m. until noon at Stephen Foster Lake.  The S.M.A.R.T. Angler fishing skills clinic emphasizes safety, appreciation, and fishing techniques for children ages 6-14.  Dont miss this valuable opportunity for your child to become a S.M.A.R.T. angler.  Pre-registration by July 21st  is mandatory and limited to 30 children.  Call the park office today at (570)297-2734 for registration and to learn more details about the clinic.

 

Fun with Your Digital Camera

The Bradford County Library presents a workshop Fun with Your Point & Shoot Digital Camera with Martin Perez on Thursday, July 22, at 7:00 p.m. This is the first in a series of classes focusing on compact digital cameras.  These classes are free and open to the public.  Please call the Library at 297-2436 or email Director Jeff Singer at jsinger@bradfordcountylibrary.org to register.  The Bradford County Library is located on Route 6 in Burlington.

American Legion Riders Post 49

 

The American Legion Riders Post 49 is holding a fund-raising raffle with many prizes including first place prize of a 1923 Ford T-Bucket, 2nd place is $1,200 3rd $750.00 4th $550.00 and others. Tickets are $25.00 and available from any Legion Rider and will be available at the Riders booth at the Troy Fair or by calling Mike at 297-0100, Tom at 673-4952, Bob at 297-3058 or Dave at 596-2863. The drawing will be held at 1pm on November 14th at the Vets Club in Troy. Proceeds will benefit the many community activities of the Legion Riders.

 

Spaghetti Dinner

 

A Spaghetti Dinner will be held on Saturday July 24th 1 til 5pm at Bradley Hall in Columbia Crossroads to raise funds to purchase a computer and other equipment for a wheel chair to assist Mike Bing who has cerebral palisey. Cost for adults is $7.00.

 

Retired, Racing Greyhounds

 

It's off to the races for the retired, racing Greyhounds of Keystone Greyhounds on the first Saturday of each month from May through September at Tioga Downs Race Track in Nichols, NY, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  There will be an adoption table set up inside the casino, staffed by Keystone Greyhound representatives, who will give information on how you can adopt one of these world-class athletes of your very own.  For more information, contact Hal and Janet Lambert, local adoption representatives of the Sayre Satellite of Keystone Greyhounds, at 570-888-9999, or check out our website at www.keystonegreys.org   

 

 

First Aid & CPR

 

A public two-day First Aid & CPR course will be held on Wednesday, July 21 and Thursday, July 22 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Soldiers + Sailors Memorial Hospital. It will address adult, child, and infant first aid and CPR. A course completion certification card will be awarded. The course costs $45 to cover the textbook and other materials. Tasteful Event

 

The TASTE FULL EVENT will be held at the fairgrounds, near  Forksville on Saturday, July 24 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.  The festival will  feature five wineries and a brewery.  Restaurants will be offering taste full portions of their specialty.  Other attractions include; outdoor music, shopping

for artful treasures,  specialty foods and horse drawn carriage rides. This festival  is held rain or shine.

Strawberry Festival

 

A Strawberry Festival will be held Saturday July 31st starting at 4:30pm on the Green in Roseveille on Route 549. The menu includes Shortcakem Homemade Ice Cream, Texas Hots, Salads, Baked Beans and a Beverage.  Benefits the Roseville United Methodist Church.

 

Memorial Golf Tournament

 

A four person scramble golf tournament will be held on Sunday August 1st at Corey Creek on Route 6 near Mansfield. This is the 11th annual Scott Cole - Lyle Wisel Memorial. Shotgun Start at 1:30pm. A chicken Barbecue dinner will be held following the event. Proceeds will benefit the troy Fire Department. FMI call 297-3612

 

Elvis Goes Baroque

 

The Endless Mountain Music Festival Orchestra presents "Elvis Goes Baroque" with featured artist Rodney Mack, Trumpet.  The concert will be at the Troy, Pa. Bike Ride

The 10th Annual Roger Sterling Memorial Motorcycle ride will be held Sunday August 1st. Registration at "Fair Shake" on Pennsylvania Avenue in Pine City from 9 till 11am.  After the ride food will be available at the Pine City Fire Department. Cost is $10.00 a rider $5.00 a passanger. Benefits the Ronald McDonald House in Rochester and Syracuse.

 

 

Alumni Day

 

An Alumni Day for past campers and volunteers of Mt. Laurel Day Camp (a.k.a. Sunshine Day Camp).Is being planned for Sunday August 1, 2010. Activities will include canoeing, singing. Relay For Life

The Western Bradford County Relay For Life teams will be hosting their 2nd Annual Radio-Thon on Wiggle 100 Wednesday August 4th from 6am-6pm. Volunteers will be at Wiggle 100 to answer phones taking pledges and speaking on the air about the work that is done with the money raised. Please make plans now to support this great cause on Wednesday August 4th.

Relay For Life

The Western Bradford County Relay For Life teams will be holding their annual 24 hour walk on Saturday August 7th beginning at 11am at Alparon Park in Troy. Fore more information on how you can participate and support this event call Mary at 297-3672 or Nadine at 596-4247.

Drinking Water

 

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is holding 2 information meetings about the proposed study of the relationship between hydraulic fracturing and the potential impacts on drinking water. One meeting is July 22nd in Canonsburg PA in Washington County. The 2nd will be at Binghamton University, Anderson Center for the Performing Arts, in Binghamton New York on August 12th.For more information and to reserve a spot of the meeing e-mail hydraulic.fracturing@epa.gov

 

 

4th Annual Light Ride

 

St. Michaels of Canton announces the date for the 4th annual Light Ride motorcycle benefit ride will be Saturday, August 21, 2010. Light Ride is a benefit motorcycle rally hosted by St. Michaels Church, Canton, PA. to help meet the parishs responsibility to fund Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Scranton. The name of the ride was inspired by the original Diocese of Scrantons Catholic Schools Slogan, Catholic Schools Light the Way. Specifics on the ride will be announced soon. Please mark the date on your calendar and join St. Michaels for the 4th Annual Light Ride on Saturday, August 21st.

 

 

Ride for Eyes Motorcycle Ride

The Lewisburg Lions Club will be hosting a Ride for Eyes Motorcycle Ride on Sunday August 22. Registration from 8:30-10:30 am. It starts at Hufnagle Park in Lewisburg and ends at Knoebles Amusement Park. The tour will cover 60-80 miles. Hot dogs, soup and desert will be served starting at 12:00 noon at the Knoebles Amusement Park in Elysburg. There also will be a dice roll. Grocery Auction

 

A Auction will be held Sunday August 22nd at the Wysox Fire hall starting at 1pm. This Auction will benefit the Towanda Youth Football Program. The Auction will have dry goods and frozen foods, including many frozen meats from National Name Restaurants, Grocery Store Chains and Wholesalers sold directly to the public at auction price. 16th Annual Bradford County Youth Field Day

 

Kids need the outdoors, and the outdoors needs kids!  On Saturday, August 28th, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Mt. Pisgah State Park will once again host the 16th annual Bradford County Youth Field Day.  This years event will include activities in trees, insects, lake stomp, Native American traditions, search-n-rescue, trapping, .22 shoot, building habitat homes, scavenger hunt, survival, archery, black powder, sporting clays, canoeing, GPS, and fishing.  Registration is now open!  Call the Park Office at (570)297-2734 or email mtpisgahsp@state.pa.us to register your child (age 5-18) and learn more details about the program, such as a free lunch, t-shirt, and a commemorative embroidered patch to all participants.  This program is free and open to the public.

 

Riverfest

 

The Towanda Riverfest Committee are making plans for the 23rd annual Riverfest in Towanda August 26, 27 and 28. Fun activities will include live entertainment, river activities, food, crafters, carnival rides, games and more. The activities will be tapped off on Saturday August 28th with a spectacular fire works display. Mark the dates and attend this great community event..

BENEFIT THE AMERICAN FOUNDATION FOR SUICIDE PREVENTION

Support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention by participating in the 3rd Annual Painted Post Out of the Darkness Community Walk on Saturday, September 11th at Craig Park, a walk for those who have been touched by suicide and mental health illness. Proceeds will benefit local and national suicide prevention and awareness programs. Bariatric Support

Sweet Family Practice welcomes patients, families and those interested in Bariatric Surgery to a support group meeting that is held the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 6pm. The meetings are held at the Towanda Township Building on Chapel Street. If you have questions about the surgery, are interested or are supporting someone who had the surgery you are invited. TROLLEY INTO MARK TWAIN COUNTRY TOURS 
 
The Trolley into Mark Twain Country Tours is now running for the season.
The tours depart on the hour from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. from the lobby of Holiday Inn at 760 East Water Street in Elmira Tuesdays through Saturdays, during July & August.  This is a joint project between the Chemung County Chamber of Commerce and Chemung County Transit System.   Sign ups for the trolley tour and ticket sales are at the Holiday Inn reservation desk, 607.734.4211. Blossburg

The Blossburg Community Pool is undergoing a rehabilitation project and will not open until July. There won't be any memberships this year due to the late start of the season.  Once the pool opens, admission will be $4 for an adult and $2 for children under 12. Admission is free for children under 2.  The pool hours normally are noon to 8 p.m.

Mansfield

The Mansfield Community Pool, behind the Mansfield High School on Besaneecy Drive, will open 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and noon to 7 p.m. Monday to Saturday.

Tioga

The Tioga Community Pool, on Broad Street near the levy, will open   1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. It is closed Tuesdays.

Wellsboro

The Wellsboro Community Pool, Queen Street in Packer Park, will open 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday to Saturday.

Elkland

The Elkland pool on Tannery Hill Road will open 1 p.m. to 8 p.m monday thru Saturday.

Williamsport

The Memorial pool in Memorial Park near Bowman Field   will be noon to 1 p.m. for adult swim daily, public swim will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and 1 to 8 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday
